All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement available at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle collection. This agreement outlines important terms, conditions, insurance specifics, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To hire a vehicle in Bournemouth, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though age limits may differ based on the vehicle type, with potential extra fees for those under 25. A valid driving licence, suitable for the vehicle category, is required and must have been held for the duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, valid identification, proof of current address, and payment details, including a security deposit, must be provided. Any other stipulations outlined in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or at our Bournemouth branch. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through established payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection in Bournemouth, you are required to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be generated and signed by both parties. Upon returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, aside from normal wear and tear. You will be liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount, except when covered by supplementary insurance. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of your insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any hazardous driving. Transporting dangerous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is prohibited. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle must be used for its intended purposes only. Passenger and weight limits must be observed, and driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Bournemouth Liability Limits
Within the limits set by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Bournemouth is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This does not affect our liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or for fraudulent activities.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts.
